The Sprenger KK Ultra Universal is the ideal choice for strong horses, allowing for enhanced communication whilst improving control; this bit is extremely popular for show jumping and cross country in particular. The lever action of the Universal has a slight delay due to the lateral offset position of the upper ring making it milder in action than the 3-Ring Gag.
The Sprenger KK Ultra Universal provides both poll and elevating action; this bit features a central lozenge set at 45 degrees forward which means that it sits comfortably and evenly on the tongue. As the lozenge sits evenly on the centre of the tongue once contact is taken up, it takes advantage of the sensitivity of the tongue and applies pressure allowing for enhanced communication. The unique design prevents upper palate interference and ensures that the tongue does not become pinched or squeezed. Unlike a traditional bubble bit or continental gag, the Universal offers lesser poll pressure due to the shorter length cheek of the bit. The Universal can be ridden with multiple rein configurations for increased control and action. If the rein is attached to the lower ring, the action is stronger; a curb strap can also be employed for a more direct action on the mouth which is often preferable for cross country riders.
The Sprenger KK Ultra lozenge takes advantage of the sensitivity of the tongue ensuring there is no risk of pinching. The mouthpiece is anatomically to follow the contours of the horses tongue and is designed to help promote consistency and rein aid clarity. Combined with the universal cheek, this bit ensures that the feel in the mouth remains soft whilst providing the rider with increased pressure and directional control making it ideal for stronger horses.
