Description
A leather curb chain from Shires, made from Blenheim quality leather and available to fit Pony (12.5cm), Cob (14.5cm) or Full (16cm) sizes. Used with a curb or pelham bit, the curb chain sits in the chin groove and comes into effect as rein pressure is applied, adding a level of poll and chin pressure alongside the mouthpiece.
A leather curb chain gives a softer feel than a metal chain, which some riders and horses prefer. Correct fit and adjustment is important for both comfort and how the bit functions, so if you're setting one up for the first time, it's worth asking an experienced trainer to check the fit.
