Description
The Shires Flat Ring Jointed Eggbutt Snaffle is a single jointed snaffle featuring a thinner mouthpiece, which may make this bit slightly stronger in action; however, the thin mouthpiece might make this bit a more comfortable choice for horses and ponies with small mouths or those with larger tongues. A single joint creates a "nutcracker" action; the bit applies pressure to the bars and the tongue. The rider is apply to apply more precise pressure to each side of the bit which may help to improve steering. Eggbutt cheeks are fixed, making the mouthpiece more stable inside the horse's mouth. This stability can help improve the confidence of horses which struggle to take the contact forwards and can also help to aid steering.
The smaller sizes of this Shires Flat Ring Jointed Eggbutt Snaffle come with smaller rings to ensure the bit remains in proportion: 55mm: 3.5"-4.5"; 75mm: 5"-6".
The smaller sizes also have a thinner mouthpiece: 14mm: 3.5"; 15mm: 4"-4.75"; 17mm: 6"
