Description
Web side reins from Shires in black nylon, 1 inch (25mm) wide, with an elastic insert and trigger hook fastening for quick attachment to the bit. Side reins are used during lunging to give a consistent, gentle contact, encouraging a horse to work into a steady outline without a rider's variable hand.
The elastic insert gives a small amount of give rather than a completely fixed contact, which many trainers prefer for comfort. As with all lunging equipment, side reins should be adjusted evenly on both sides and never overly tight, and are best used by those confident in lungeing correctly.
