The Neue Schule Turtle Tactiou2122 with Flex Universal has been specifically engineered to accommodate the larger or more sensitive tongue, often negating the need to shut the mouth. The Universal cheeks allow the rider to choose from a number of rein options, setting up and tailoring this bit to best suit the horse - this includes the option of a curb strap. This allows the application of poll pressure to give the rider additional control.
