WeatherBeeta’s Therapy-Tec range has been designed to offer your horse the best care both when preparing him for exercise and for recovery afterwards by increasing his muscle function in order to reduce the risk of injury. The Therapy-Tec incorporates a ceramic fabric which offers the horse multiple benefits and works on the main muscle groups.
What is ceramic therapy?
Ceramic therapy works by the use of ceramic fabric which reflects the horse’s own body heat via infrared waves. These infrared waves boost the blood circulation in the muscles, enabling more oxygen to be delivered to the muscle tissue. Warming the muscles helps to aid relaxation and ease any strains, soreness or stiffness. Boosting circulation to the area will also help to accelerate tissue repair and healing.
This technology is ideal for preparing and warming up the muscles gradually prior to work, particularly for horses in harder work or those which are cold backed or have had a past injury. Ceramic therapy is also useful after exercise – it assists in muscle recovery, reducing the build up of lactic acid which can decrease the recovery time.
How is the Therapy-Tec material produced?
Therapy-Tec rugs are produced using a ceramic powder which is tightly blended into the fabric. Ceramic powder has long-lasting properties, and it’s so tightly blended that is cannot be washed out – these rugs can be washed in a domestic washing machine provided the care instructions are followed. The ceramic fabric is focused over the main muscle groups of the back, shoulders, quarters and neck. The Therapy-Tec’s fleece outer fabric wicks away moisture to keep the horse comfortable.
How to introduce Therapy-Tec
Therapy-Tec products should begin with a gradual introduction period of 30mins – 1hr per day, slowly increasing treatment time up to as much as 12 hours per day if required – this allows the horse’s muscles to adjust to the technology. These rugs will only benefit the horse if they are worn against the skin/coat – therapeutic benefits will be lost if the rug is layered on top of other rugs.
