Be prepared early this winter with NAF “Love The Skin He’s In” Mud Gard mud fever prevention products, Mud Gard Supplement and Mud Gard Barrier Cream.
For horses prone to mud fever, prevention is better than cure. When we repeatedly and consistently expose our horses to wet and muddy conditions, some horses can be affected by certain types of bacteria that live in the soil. This bacteria gains access to areas of the skin which has been weakened by external factors. Typically the skin on the lower legs is affected, but mud fever can also affect the upper leg and the belly.
NAF Mud Gard Supplement
NAF Mud Gard Supplement has been developed to improve and strengthen the horse’s skin from the inside out. Adding this supplement into your horse’s daily diet prior to the onset of wet and muddy conditions will allow key nutrients within the supplement to start working within the horse’s system before the skin is challenged. NAF recommends a 7 - 14 day loading period for best effects from this supplement.
Mud Gard Supplement contains a unique complex of scientifically-verified and naturally sourced anti-oxidants. These anti-oxidants work to flush excess free radicals away from areas of the horse’s body that are affected and weakened by repeated exposure to wet conditions. It’s also formulated with key herbs and other nutrients, including MSM, which will further support strong and healthy skin from within.
NAF Mud Gard Barrier Cream
NAF Mud Gard Barrier Cream is a thick, rich, nourishing barrier cream formulated to protect the horse's skin when he’s exposed to wet and muddy conditions out in the field. It works to prevent the onset of mud fever by forming an effective shield between the skin and external conditions, preventing any bacteria from penetrating the skin.
Mud Gard Barrier Cream also contains MSM which supports skin health and encourages hair regrowth to any previously affected areas. The addition of tea tree oil and rosemary oil will soothe any areas which are already sore or inflamed.
Apply Barrier Cream to clean and dry legs prior to turnout. It must be used daily in order to be effective. Follow the direction of the hair and apply a generous layer to create a water-repellent barrier over the skin.
