Equine America is BETA NOPS and UFAS assured which means that full product traceability is in place, along with a quality assurance program which minimises the risk of contamination of the feed with prohibited substances and NOPS. Products are formulated to be suitable for horses competing under FEI regulations and the Rules of Racing.

Horse need muscle to support and move the skeleton and protect joints, tendons and ligaments. In addition, working horses will use these muscles to support the rider and perform the athletic tasks required.

Muscles are predominantly made from the building blocks of protein called amino acids. There are some amino acids that the horse can produce for himself and others, called essential amino acids, which he must receive from his diet. There are 9 essential amino acids, and research has indicated that there are at least two which are particularly important for muscle development – Lysine and Leucine.

But in order to build muscle, it is not just a question of feeding more non-specific dietary protein:

The first requirement to build more muscle is correctly performed exercise and training – horses out of work or on box rest cannot develop muscle -they may gain condition if they receive extra energy and protein - but will not build muscle unless they are exercising and working those muscles.
The second requirement for muscles to develop during work is the presence of adequate supplies of protein, and in particular, certain key building blocks or amino acids, and research has indicated that two of the most important, or limiting amino acids are Lysine and Leucine.
The third requirement is that in order to complete the necessary exercise and training, the horse must be receiving enough energy in his diet to undertake this work.

Rather than relying on a single protein source, More Muscle contains a blend of high-quality protein sources to provide supplemental levels of the key amino acids including Lysine and Leucine, from whey protein, Spirulina, linseed and soya.

In addition, to support energy requirements, More Muscle contains rice bran, which is high in oil to provide additional non-starch calories.

During the work necessary to promote their development, muscles produce free radicals, which can result in oxidative damage, and so More Muscle also provides key antioxidant micronutrients Vitamin E and Selenium, as well as plant based antioxidants including grape extract and rosemary.

A healthy gut microbiome is essential for correct digestion and feed utilization, to ensure energy levels can support the necessary work to build muscle. More Muscle contains high levels of probiotic yeast to support gut function.

There may be many reasons why horses need support to develop muscle. Ensure you have ruled out clinical conditions including pain by speaking with your vet, equine physio and other therapists, and your saddler. Once any underlying conditions have been addressed or ruled out, More Muscle Pellets are widely recommended by professionals to help provide extra support for muscle development, as part of the feeding and training regime.

Research has shown that muscles take up amino acids for repair and muscle development after exercise, so where possible, More Muscle Pellets should be offered in the first suitable feed after exercise for optimum effect.

How long will it take for my order to arrive?

We want to be crystal clear when it comes to managing your expectations; our website is stock managed to show you what items are available for same day dispatch and those which are externally warehoused and therefore, will take a little longer to arrive with you.

Simply make your product selections and a message will pop up telling you how long it will take us to dispatch your order; we call this our product availability message.  If you are happy with the product availability message on the item, checkout your order and we will ship your order in the timeframe stated.

If you have lots of items in your basket, please use the longest product availability message to work out when your order will arrive.  We care about our environmental impact, so we don't split ship orders unless you get in touch to request that we do so.  We will let you know on your order confirmation when we expect your order will arrive with you.

Whilst we do our best to meet the handling times stated in the product availability message, occasionally we can experience some delays in the delivery network.  At these times, a team member will email you to keep you updated on the progress of your order.

Selecting FedEx or DPD does not change our expected handling times; the service selected is always from the point of despatch not purchase.

Which couriers do you use?

Before choosing a courier, please make sure you are happy with the product availability message as these handling times apply before we ship your order.  If it doesn’t show “Express warehouse: immediate despatch”, it will not leave us on the same day you have placed the order.

We use FedEx, DPD and Royal Mail for most of our deliveries.  Some large items may come with other trusted 3rd party couriers.

Our Royal Mail economy service is usually delivered in two - three days.  You will receive a text message and an email confirming the day of delivery; Royal Mail provide a four hour time window for delivery.

FedEx and DPD are delivered next working day from point of despatch for UK mainland addresses or in two working days for Scottish Highlands, Islands, Northern Ireland, and Irish addresses.  You will receive a text message and an email confirming the day for delivery. 

Selecting FedEx or DPD does not mean your order will bypass our handling times; FedEx and DPD are from the point of despatch, not the point of purchase. 

If an item has an "Oversized goods must select FedEx" overlay on it, please ensure you select FedEx as your delivery option to avoid any delays with your order.
