The Shires Hard Rubber Mouth Snaffle is made from a hard rubber, which results in a mouthpiece which isn't as flexible but is more durable and gives a slightly stronger action. This bit is still soft on the horse's mouth due to the thickness of the rubber - the mouthpiece measures 21mm thick. The loose rings allow the mouthpiece to move inside the horse's mouth, preventing the horse from fixing against the contact.
