Description

The Myler Medium Baucher Traditional Mullen Barrel Bit is a fixed cheek bit, ideal for horses who can be aversive to the bit lying low on the tongue; the hanging cheek design keeps the bit mouthpiece suspended in the mouth making it ideal for horses who are aversive to tongue pressure. This bit is incredibly popular for Arab types.

The traditional mullen barrel of this baucher is Mylers version of a traditional mullen mouthpiece. Unlike traditional mullen mouthpieces, this mouthpiece wraps around the tongue creating a U shape within the mouth to allow for more tongue room. This U shape is far more accomodating and proves to be preferable mouthpiece for many horses.

This mouthpiece also combines independant cheek movement for greater control and feel. This means that when a rein is applied, the section of the bit engaged moves independantly thus delivering a far clearer rein aid (i.e. a right rein aid would cause the cannon to right side of the bushing in the centre of the bit to move within the horses mouth).

When rein pressue is applied to the baucher, the bit moves back in the mouth whilst rotating forward onto the tongue thus creating some poll pressure.

Myler bits are made from a polished sweet iron which naturally oxidises and rusts (this will result in bit discolouration which is completely harmless to the horse) as well as copper inlay for improved taste, salivation and acceptance of the bit.

This bit is also legal to use for USEF dressage, FEI dressage and USEA eventing dressage although you may need to consult the organizations rule book for more information.

Level two Myler bit mouthpieces explained

Level two mouthpieces are ideal for most horses moving into Myler bits. They offer greater tongue relief than a level one mouthpiece and are ideal for horses that show resistance to tongue pressure.

Level two mouthpieces introduce the concept of tongue relief to the horse through the means of a port or flexible mouthpiece thus teaching the horse to be more accepting to the contact.

The level two Myler bit collapses slightly in the middle, rotating directly onto the tongue to apply some tongue pressure but nowhere near as much as a level one mouthpiece. The design of the level two Myler bit mouthpiece allows the horse greater tongue relief improving his ability to swallow and elevate his tongue.

The Myler level two mouthpiece also features a central rotating cylinder to the centre of the mouthpiece which prevents the bit from collapsing into a V shape; this cylinder allows the bit to sit in more of a U shape which protects the bars and the lips from being pinched. This cylinder also allows for independent side bar movement for more accurate pressure application. The distinctive curvature to the mouthpiece ensures sufficient tongue room protecting the bards and lips from unintentional pressure and pinching.

How long will it take for my order to arrive?

We want to be crystal clear when it comes to managing your expectations; our website is stock managed to show you what items are available for same day dispatch and those which are externally warehoused and therefore, will take a little longer to arrive with you.

Simply make your product selections and a message will pop up telling you how long it will take us to dispatch your order; we call this our product availability message.  If you are happy with the product availability message on the item, checkout your order and we will ship your order in the timeframe stated.

If you have lots of items in your basket, please use the longest product availability message to work out when your order will arrive.  We care about our environmental impact, so we don't split ship orders unless you get in touch to request that we do so.  We will let you know on your order confirmation when we expect your order will arrive with you.

Whilst we do our best to meet the handling times stated in the product availability message, occasionally we can experience some delays in the delivery network.  At these times, a team member will email you to keep you updated on the progress of your order.

Selecting FedEx or DPD does not change our expected handling times; the service selected is always from the point of despatch not purchase.

If you do require an order urgently, please contact us before ordering to ensure we can accommodate your requirements as we hate to be party poopers!

Before choosing a courier, please make sure you are happy with the product availability message as these handling times apply before we ship your order.  If it doesn’t show “Express warehouse: immediate despatch”, it will not leave us on the same day you have placed the order.

We use FedEx, DPD and Royal Mail for most of our deliveries.  Some large items may come with other trusted 3rd party couriers.
