The Dever slotted Kimblewick bit with jointed mouthpiece is the perfect horse bit for use in riders that require more control than that generated from a regular snaffle. Also known as a Kimblerwick, this horse bit is often selected for use in ponies as it is milder than a pelham and ideal for young riders to help them improve their level of control, particularly whilst jumping and competing in pony club activities. The lower that the rein is fitted to the cheek, the greater the poll action of this bit.
The clever design of the bit offers a slight curb action when a light rein aid does not achieve the correct response. The D-rings at either side of the Dever Kimblewick bit add leverage action as the curved bit shank applies pressure to the mouth and chin groove when a contact is taken upon the rein. The intelligent design of the Dever Kimblewick bit increases poll pressure, further improving the control the rider has over the horse.
The jointed mouthpiece of this Kimblewick is well suited to horses that have standard oral anatomy, horses with fleshy tongues such as Irish Draughts are often better suited to a ported mouthpiece. When pressure is applied, the joint action adds pressure to the tongue, bars and lips for increased control.
The Dever Kimblewick horse bit is made of a stainless steel that is rustproof and has fantastic longevity! It is also supplied complete with a curb chain and is available in a variety of widths.
